Cold and Cough in pregnancy

Q: What should I do while suffering from persistent cough or cold or flu or any other type of cold virus during early pregnancy or later during pregnancy?

A: First thing you should do is don't take any cold medicines without consulting your midwife or Doctor. This also valid to any homemade medicines(home remedy) or tips you will get from your near and dear ones or internet. Many people suggest following remedies:

1) Orange juice with hot water.
2) Warm tea or coffee with some lemon juice.
3) Drink at least eight ounces of liquid each hour whether it is warm water, lemon juice, soups, or ginger tea.
4) Place a mild warm clean cotton cloth on your nose by placing it on hot pan again and again for about 10-15 minutes to stop it from sneezing. Do it three or four times in a day.
5) Doctors mostly suggest to have vapors or steam yourself and go to sleep.
6) For healing cough you must take honey with some drops of grated ginger juice or lemon juice.


Q: Is having cough or cold during pregnancy is common?

A: Yes, During pregnancy your immune system gets weaker that can cause you suffer from cough or cold easily. Not to worry ask your doc and he or she will give you the remedies that are safe during pregnancy.If you don't want to take cough tablets ask Your Dr. for cough syrup.


Q: Does suffering from cough or cold and cold sore affects or harm my baby during pregnancy?

A: No, small cough and cold doesn't harm the baby inside your womb. But severe cough keeps continuous pressure on the stomach that can harm your baby, so try to heal from it,Ask your doctor asap for cold treatment. But if you also suffer from fever then consult your doctor and have some medicines.Avoud your self from cough whooping,dry cough ,allergy cough and chronic cough etc...There is no best cough medicine.
